Project Description

new creative HUB 3 timber story building

“The building currently under construction is not only the new roman headquarters of Parallel Digital, a company specialized in BIM management, but a real HUB that will host different realities in the sectors of construction, mobility, infrastructure and digital technology with the goal of being a hot spot for research & development projects.
The three-storey building is located in a former industrial area adjacent to the Tiburtina station, 10 meters higher than the altitude of Via di Portonaccio on which it overlooks. The sedimentary area is located above a complex field of tufaceous caves dating back to the nineteenth century that were used as a refuge during the Second World War.
The construction of the building presented some complexities in particular in the construction of foundations due to interference with the caves below.
The project was used by It’s as a case study both for process management, full BIM, and for the use of prefabrication. This allowed to reduce the construction time, 6 months including the foundations in micropiles, and to check the technical quality of the building and its costs.
Thanks to the techniques used, the building reaches very high standards of energy saving. The photovoltaic positioned in the covering allows to reach the zero consumption target.
The structure is in timber; The supporting walls in Xlam are mounted in 4 weeks. The external coating is in aluminum. A study of the façades has made possible to optimize the modularity of the panels and to insert variations in texture and size in order to obtain an industrial but precious aesthetic. It’s Hub is a new landmark for an enclosed area of the city that tries to rebuild its own post – industrial identity. ”
